The Perfect Peppermint Bark Recipes

What could be better than traditional peppermint bark? Try three additional recipes that add a unique twist to this fan favorite Christmas dessert. While experimenting with Mrs. Claus in her Sweet Shop, the Scout Elves discovered new ways to make a holiday classic: peppermint bark. See below for four peppermint bark recipes that are certain to make you a hit at the next holiday party!

Traditional Peppermint Bark


You’ll Need:

  • 1 package semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 package white chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 25 mini candy canes
  • 2 bowls
  • Plastic bag
  • Wax paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Spatula
  • Butter knife (for adult use only)

Instructions:

  1. First, line a baking sheet with wax paper.
  2. Place semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips and white chocolate chips in separate bowls.
  3. Melt the semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips according to package instructions.
  4. Stir ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract into the melted chocolate.
  5. Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate onto the baking sheet.
  6. Place the chocolate in the freezer for five minutes and then remove.
  7. While the chocolate is hardening, put the mini candy canes in a plastic bag and use a spoon to crush them into smaller pieces.
  8. Then, melt the white chocolate chips according to package instructions, stir ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract into the melted chocolate and use a spatula to spread it on top of the other chocolate.
  9. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the chocolate, adding as much as you’d like.
  10. Allow the melted chocolate to harden into “bark” for at least 1 hour by placing it in the freezer.
  11. Remove and use your hands to break the peppermint bark into bite-sized pieces, or use a butter knife to cut the bark, with adult supervision.
  12. Enjoy this minty chocolatey treat with friends and family this holiday season!

  3. Melt the semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips as well as the white chocolate chips according to package instructions.

  5. Using a spatula, spread the melted semi-sweet or dark chocolate onto the baking sheet.
  6. Immediately after, spread the melted white chocolate on top of the other chocolate and use the spatula to swirl the chocolates together.
  7. Put the mini candy canes in a plastic bag and use a spoon to crush them into smaller pieces.
  8. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the chocolate, adding as much as you’d like.
  9. Allow the melted chocolate to harden into “bark” for at least 1 hour by placing it in the freezer.

  • 1 package white chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 25 mini candy canes
  • 2 bowls
  • Plastic bag
  • Wax paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Spoon
  • Snowflake cookie cutters (as many as you would like)
  • Cellophane
  • Ribbon

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and place the snowflake cookie cutters on the sheet.
  2. Place semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips and white chocolate chips in separate bowls.
  3. Melt the semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips as well as the white chocolate chips according to package instructions.
  4. Stir ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract into both bowls of melted chocolate.
  5. Spoon the melted chocolate into each cookie cutter. Helpful hint: You can fill the cookie cutters with one type of chocolate or fill them halfway with one chocolate and then top them with the other chocolate.
  6. Put the mini candy canes in a plastic bag and use a spoon to crush them into smaller pieces.
  7. Top the chocolate in each cookie cutter with the crush candy canes.
  8. Allow the melted chocolate to harden in the freezer for at least 1 hour.
  9. Remove and place a cookie cutter filled with peppermint bark in a cellophane bag, sealing it tight with ribbon.
  10. Gift this snowflake peppermint bark to friends and family during the holidays!
  11. Helpful hint: If you want to remove the bark from the cookie cutter, slam the cookie cutter on the counter and use your thumb to pop the chocolate out. Wash the cookie cutter to use for your next recipe.

  • 1 box of brownie mix and ingredients needed according to package instructions
  • 1 package white chocolate chips
  • ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 25 mini candy canes
  • 2 bowls
  • Baking pan
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Instructions:

  1. First, bake one box of brownies according to package instructions and cool as directed.
  2. Place white chocolate chips in a bowl and melt them according to package instructions.
  3. Stir ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract into the melted chocolate.
  4. Use the spatula to spread the melted chocolate onto the cooled brownies.
  5. Put the mini candy canes in a plastic bag and use a spoon to crush them into smaller pieces.
  6. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the chocolate, adding as much as you’d like.
  7. Place the brownies in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to cool and set.
  8. Enjoy this minty brownie dessert while celebrating the holiday season!
